On Wednesday June 9th 1999 I went to HUNTINGDON HALL, Worcester to see STEVE HARLEY perform an acoustic set. The concert, (although promoting the new album) was being performed as a charity fund raiser for HUNTINGDON HALL which (at the time of writing this review) is in danger of being closed down.
For this performance he was joined on stage by ROBBIE GLADWELL whom I had seen earlier in the year performing in the SUZI QUATRO Band.
After about the third song STEVE spotted that one of the seats was a baby seat, and so he started to joke about the cost of baby sitters.
During the night there was a raffle where you could win his CD or tour T-shirts. In the interval there was an auction for a rare acetate pressing of one of his albums. All proceeds of these two events also went to HUNTINGDON HALL.
My favourite songs on the night were MAKE ME SMILE (COME UP AND SEE ME), THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES, SEBASTIAN, JUDY TEEN, and of course my favourite TUMBLING DOWN.
I enjoyed the concert and thought it was better than the STRIPPED TO THE BARE BONES album as it featured two guitars and vocals only, in other lyrics it was "THE SKELETON OF STEVE HARLEY".
